Mongolia

A modern day Acts, the nation of Mongolia has moved from a country steeped in Buddhism, Shamanism and atheism to one that now knows Christ; at last count 100,000 people, mostly under the age of 30, now call themselves Christians.

Founded in 2000, FEBC Mongolia established radio station WIND-FM in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city with one million residents. WIND-FM has been commended by the government of Mongolia as one of the two most exemplary radio stations in the country. A media survey in 2002 indicated that WIND-FM has about 200,000 listeners - a remarkable number for a Christian-based radio station in a country where less than 20 Christians lived in the early 1990s.

WIND FM’s 24 hour-a-day broadcasts educate, encourage, and inspire listeners, while their outreach activities minister in tangible ways.  The follow-up team encourages listeners to attend local churches, in order to grow in a body of believers.

FEBC Mongolia established a goal to deliver programs to all provincial radio stations (21) by 2015.
WIND FM, the only Christian radio station in Mongolia, is considered a trusted voice in the community.

Ministry highlights

Broadcasting Ministry Since 2000, FEBC Mongolia has been broadcasting in the Mongolian language 24 hours a day from FM station 104.5 in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia.

August 2010 FEBC Mongolia extended its broadcast to Nalaih, a mining town East of Ulaanbaatar, with a population of 30,000. October 1, 2010, FEBC Mongolia established an FM station in Murun, Huvsgol Province.
Community Development  FEBC-Mongolia works with other Christian ministries and NGOs to improve the quality of life for the Mongolian people through radio programming, community outreach, radio distribution, and several other outreach projects.

Promoting family values and responsible living, organizing rallies that develop a sense of community, introducing listeners to biblical concepts like charity, kindness, and grace is making a difference in the lives of people.  When polled, Ulaanbaatar listeners say they enjoy the friendly voices, music, Bible messages, and public service programs.  And several years ago, the Speaker of the Mongolian Parliament commended WIND FM for its contribution to the development of the nation, citing himself as a regular listener.
Listener Response In 2010, 102,000 listeners called, emailed, texted, or visited our offices in Mongolia.
