Radio can reach places in our world where missionaries may never go. Remote, isolated villages and regions where the Gospel is unwelcome, even illegal.
Shortwave radio in particular is a true powerhouse for delivering FEBC broadcasts because it has the capacity to reach listeners thousands of miles away . . . shortwave can broadcast one-third of the way around the Earth!
Shortwave signals are also exceptionally difficult for officials to jam and nearly impossible to block. But it takes an astonishing amount of electricity to power shortwave signals, and FEBC must purchase electricity to keep the Gospel message on the air.
