Listener Stories from South Korea (October, 2022)

FEBCFEBC Blog

South Korea is a nation of over 50 million people and has one of the largest FEBC footprints. With stations in 13 cities, broadcasts can be heard throughout the country. Recently, our local broadcast team shared the stories of several listeners whose lives were changed:

Saving My Father

“Hello, my name is Kim Seon-jeong, and I listen to FEBC Korea. One day, I received a phone-call from a broadcaster at the FEBC-Ulsan station, asking if I had any prayer requests. I asked for prayer for my father (78 years old) to come to faith in Jesus. Hearing my prayer request, the staff member immediately prayed for my father’s salvation over the phone. But then, even after praying with me, the staff member asked if he could call my father and ask him to accept Jesus as his personal savior.

“A few days later, the broadcaster really did call my father. It was a miracle: my father accepted Jesus as his Savior—I was so surprised! I decided to invite my father to church with me and to my surprise, he said that he would come. On August 14th, I took my father to the church where I was attending and we worshiped together for the first time.

“Thank you for praying together with me for my father! We will never forget the great grace that God gave our family!”

Starting the Day with the Lord

“For a long time, I was not attending church, but I was listening to FEBC Korea on my phone every day, right as I woke up. Eventually, a member of the intercessory prayer team at FEBC Korea learned that I wasn’t attending church anymore and reached out to me. The FEBC team counseled me, and I decided to start going to church again. I have been going ever since.

“I also used to run a liquor store, but after praying about it, I decided to turn away from that industry. I want to express my deepest gratitude to the Lord and to FEBC Korea in Ulsan. I hope that one day I will be able to repay the gratitude I have in helping me to become a better Christian.”

Answered Prayer

“My brother-in-law is the only member of our family who is not saved. Whenever we would have a family church service, my brother-in-law would leave. One day though just before starting to pray, my daughter invited my brother-in-law to stay. “Brother-in-law! Could you stay and worship with us today?

Granny! Please hold his hands so that he would not leave,” she said. To my surprise, he did not resist and stayed with us for the whole service.

“My sister, barely believing her own eyes, said, “This is exactly what I have been praying for. What a miracle.” The following Monday, I received a message from FEBC, “We are continually praying for your requests that you have submitted. Would you kindly share answered prayers with us?”

To my surprise, I shared this text with my family, knowing this was not a coincidence. Our family was able to experience the power of intercessory prayer. As a family, we wanted to share this praise to give Him Glory. Thank you for your continued prayers. We will continue to pray until our brother-in-law accepts Jesus as his Lord and Savior.”

Faith by Hearing

“My wife didn’t believe in Jesus, and because of this, we would always be fighting about tithing and finances. My wife also kept our children from knowing God. I called in one day to FEBC Korea and asked the team to pray for my family. While I was praying, a verse popped into my head, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” I decided I would listen to the broadcasts at home and in my car with my family, trusting that by hearing, my wife and children would come to know God’s Word. Sure enough, after that, my wife went to church and eventually came to believe in Jesus. I pray that more lives would be saved, just like my wife’s. Thank you!”
