In Pakistan where Islam is the dominant religion that influences society, government, and education, one student tuned into FEBC’s broadcasts
. He sent this message to the station:
“I am a student at a madrassa and I like to listen to your broadcasts. But when the principal of my school found out, he forbid me from having any more contact with you. Please tell me how I should handle this. I like your programs very much and will miss not tuning in.”
Naji, our Audience Relations Director at the time, wrote back and advised the boy to always obey his elders.
But Naji passed on one other comment: “Ask your principal if he will tune into our broadcasts just once, so he can hear what it is we teach.”
The principal was so impressed that Naji had counseled the boy to obey his elders, that he agreed to listen to an FEBC broadcast. His reaction: “I had no idea Christians were such good people.”
After listening to our program just once, the principal told the student he could continue tuning into our broadcasts and writing to our team.
