Priest Becomes Pastor through FEBC

A 64-YEAR-OLD TEMPLE PRIEST started listening to FEBC in 1996 through shortwave broadcasts from the Philippines. He came to know the Lord through the radio.

Three years later he started a church in his house, which grew to a congregation of 70 people.

Asked how he pastored his members, the former priest explained that he recorded FEBC broadcasts, especially material on tithes and offerings, worship songs, and how to worship God:

I would play the recording, turn it off, and ask the congregation to open their Bibles and compare what they heard with what was written in the Word, he explained.

It wasn’t easy at first, because people ridiculed me for following a ‘foreign’ God. But it didn’t discourage me from persisting in my new-found faith. Life in my old faith was good, but I now know it doesn’t offer salvation the way Christ does. We all sin, but by praying and confessing to Jesus, we are saved.”

The temple priest once drank, smoke, and cursed, but when people saw him change, they became interested in his faith and began attending his house church. Currently, the priest-turned pastor continues to lead his flock, relying on FEBC’s shortwave broadcasts for Bible teaching.

With his radio-cassette player broken, he asked us to pray that the Lord will give him a new one so he can continue teaching his congregation with the help of FEBC’s broadcasts.
