Lives Transformed Through FEBC-Mongolia

IN THE FEW SHORT YEARS SINCE FEBC established itself in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, lives have been changed in a dramatic way.

Located between Russia and China, this country of 2.8 million people influenced by Buddhist traditions is now being introduced to Christian values - and the reaction has been phenomenal! In just over 15 years the number of Mongolian Christians has grown from a handful to tens of thousands!

Several factors have contributed to this growth, including FEBC’s promotion of family values and responsible living through their local radio station, WIND-FM. When polled, Ulaanbaatar listeners say they enjoy the friendly voices, music, Bible messages, and public service programming.

Last November the Speaker of the Mongolian Parliament commended the station for its contribution to the development of the nation, citing himself as a regular listener.

Married Couple Reunited... over the Airwaves!

The program, Heart in an Envelope, has had quite an impact. One listener wrote to WIND-FM and asked that his letter be read over the air, so he could communicate with his wife while serving a lengthy jail sentence. “If my wife can hear my words, my heart will be at peace,” he wrote.

WIND-FM did as he asked, contacting his wife before reading the letter. Before long she sent the radio station a reply of her own, in which she encouraged her husband to be at peace and not give up. The broadcaster offered the couple advice from a biblical perspective. Nowhere has radio’s ability to communicate been more effective, as seen in his follow-up response:

Dear FEBC: Thank you for reading my letter on the air. Your program touches the lives of so many listeners in a special way. Thank you for helping lift the heaviness from my heart.

To my wife I’d like to say: “I heard your letter on the air. It broke my heart and I listened in tears. When I heard your words I was so happy I surrendered to your love. When I think of what I did I hate myself and want to die. You trusted me to be your pillar. I’m very sad that I left you with nothing and I can’t be your support and show you that I love you.

I hope those listening to this program will not make the same mistake I did. Cherish the people you love…and take good care of them. Thank you to all the radio people who helped prepare this program.

This is just one example of the many lives being touched by God’s love through WIND-FM. We are thrilled to be making an impact in this strategic Asian community!
