I Came Home

WHEN I WAS A CHILD, my father taught me how to drive. Recalling that time with my dad in his car has always been a special memory for me. Since then, my car has felt more like "home" than any home I lived in.

Soon afterwards my dad left us.

My father provided a legacy of leaving and I became just like him. Through the years, I left all my girlfriends and then my wives.

I work as a driver, so in many respects my car is my home. It's also where I first heard FEBC radio.

FEBC was the only station that had engaging conversation. The only thing is, I didn’t like Jesus' name being mentioned all the time. "Jesus this, Jesus that..."

I thought Jesus was a weakling, a victim. But for some reason I continued to listen to the program.

Two weeks later I broke down. I realized that no one in the world needed me.

Sitting in my car, I decided to pray to Jesus. I can’t even tell you what happened as I prayed, because it’s so intimate, precious, and personal, but it was powerful.

I knew I had to share this love and forgiveness I had been given by Jesus, so I came home.

Those are simple words, "came home," but for me it was the first time I really felt the warmth of what a home is.

God gave me back my family; my children believed that I would eventually return, and because of FEBC I did!

God has also given me a second family -- a family of Christians who support me and are related to me through the blood of Jesus Christ.
