The US Board of Directors for the Far East Broadcasting Company (FEBC) announced today the appointment of Edward W. Cannon as the new President of FEBC US.
Ed Cannon’s unique professional career includes leadership experience in both large ministry settings and corporate settings. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. During his 8-1/2 years at Moody, Mr. Cannon had oversight of broadcasting, publishing, the legal department, fundraising and the operations of the Institute.
Of his appointment, Mr. Cannon said:
“I’ve had a passion my whole life to be part of the Great Commission, and especially now, to reach those who have never heard the gospel before. That’s why I’m so excited to be a part of FEBC which has made, and is making, such a powerful impact on the world for Christ. We’re reaching nearly half the population of the globe with the Good News of Jesus Christ.”
Ed Cannon’s corporate career in the oil business spanned almost 25 years. His progressive leadership within British Petroleum, Amoco and Standard Oil Company moved him from engineering roles to global responsibilities for refining. Mr. Cannon left British Petroleum when offered the position at the Moody Bible Institute. He had been praying for years prior to this calling for God to reveal to him how he could be of service in His work.
Ed Cannon has a reputation for participative and passionate leadership in both ministry and business. He serves on three Christian not-for-profit boards including National Religious Broadcasters. Ed is also a Bible Study Fellowship leader. He loves the Scripture and has a passion for ministry. Ed’s wife, Mary Jean Cannon, is a physician. She looks forward to supporting her husband in his work at FEBC. They have two sons in college.
