The saying, To be Thai is to be Buddhist, is widely believed in Thailand and reveals the impact of Buddhism on the Thai culture. In fact, Thai Buddhism—a combination of traditional Buddhism, folk law, and animistic practices—is prominent in every aspect of Thai life. Consider these facts:

• The population of Thailand is 67 million.
• The population of protestant Christians is less than 335,000.
• The population of ethnic minority protestant Christians is approximately 137,350.

FEBC Thailand is using the airwaves to change these numbers by engaging listeners in both rural and urban areas, to help them discover the love of the living God. The ministry’s goal is to help people see that God is real and that Jesus brings hope and eternal life.

Broadcasts Touching Lives
FEBC’s strategy to reach Buddhists includes airing programs such as “This Life Still Has an Answer,” hosted by a former Buddhist who addresses listener problems from a biblical perspective. His ability to communicate the Bible is making a significant impact on the lives of listeners, as well as his on-air prayers for those who call into the program. Listener response comes from 19 different provinces throughout Thailand.

FEBC also offers a Bible correspondence course, with 18,000 currently enrolled. And for listeners who call in and request information about Christianity or the Bible, FEBC Thailand mails them printed material.

Follow-up through letters, visits, and listener rallies designed to reach the Buddhist population are also a large part of FEBC’s outreach to our listeners, many of whom request information about local churches.
