Wanted: Radios

Friday October 30th, 2009

Radios. We turn them on and think nothing of it. But in many countries, radios are prized possessions, as seen by this comment from an Indonesian woman after she received a radio from FEBC: “This is a dream come true! I’ve been longing for a radio of my own, to help strengthen my family’s faith.”

Radios Following a Disaster
FEBC also distributes radios to people struggling through the aftermath of a disaster. In the 18 months since the 7.9-magnitude earthquake devastated Sichuan, China, FEBC has distributed over 15,000 radios to survivors trying to rebuild their lives. FEBC also launched a weekday program called “Rekindle Our Hearts,” designed to minister to millions grappling with the catastrophe that claimed 70,000 lives and left millions homeless. Listeners find comfort and hope in this program, which is still on the air today.

Radios continue to be in demand in this earthquake-affected area, as well as in Cambodia, Vietnam, and the Philippines, where listeners are waiting to tune in to FEBC broadcasts.

Radios Penetrate Religious Barriers
In a Muslim-dominant area of the Philippines, FEBC recently provided several hundred radios that were distributed to villages by parachurch organizations. FEBC also provides radios to other countries and regions where people are persecuted for abandoning their traditional faith, as radio is often the only way they can hear the Good News.

One Radio Reaches Many
In many remote areas of the world where FEBC broadcasts, a single radio serves an entire community. This means that just one radio impacts numerous lives!

So far, FEBC has distributed 5,000 radios in 2009, but the current need is 18,000! With your help, we can put radios in the hands of many more searching for the truth, so that they, too, can join one listener who recently said, “Now my family can learn more about God’s Word through our own radio.”

If you’d like to make it possible for a spiritually needy person to receive a radio, please visit our website at www.febc.org where you can give a radio through our current gift catalog. Or call us at 800-523-3480 and request a catalog by mail. You can also email swilson@febc.org to find out more.

Or perhaps your school, church, or Bible study group would like to support our radio project. If so, please contact us at FEBC! One radio really can make an eternal difference in the lives of many, so thank you for all you do to help FEBC share radios with needy people around the world!
