FEBC Releases New Gift Catalog!
Next month, FEBC will release our 2009/2010 Gift Catalog, which will offer you a unique opportunity to support projects that help us keep our broadcasts on the air and lend a hand to those in need. Because sharing Christ often starts with compassion and friendship … which ultimately opens hearts to the Good News.
In this issue of Reach, we offer you a highlight of some of the gifts in this year’s catalog, hoping it will inspire you and your family to support one or more of these projects that help reach others with the message of Christ!
Pig Project in Indonesia
“I almost dropped out of school because my family had no money to pay for my education. Praise God for the letter I sent to FEBC! They were willing to send me two pigs to raise. This really motivated me to work hard and take good care of my pigs, so my parents and I could pay my school fee.”
The FEBC Pig Project began in Bali in 2004 to help pastors who had no means of support, but later expanded to listeners who needed income to feed their family and send their children to school. Two pigs allow a family to raise numerous litters, which can be sold or used to feed a family. In this way, FEBC helps families become self-sufficient. And this kindness helps them lay the groundwork for sharing the love of Christ.
Currently, 91 families have benefited from this outreach, and the only requirement is that recipients assist others in need by helping them establish a similar business that produces income.
CD Outreach Project in Japan
Listeners in Japan who respond to the Good News find it difficult to follow Christ because the Japanese culture is so intertwined with Buddhist and Shinto beliefs. Less than 1% of Japan’s population is Christian—and that number is shrinking daily. As one person recently wrote, “I secretly listen to FEBC in my room every evening while my parents worship Buddha in the next room. My heart is split in two. I want to be a faithful son to my parents, but I also want to commit myself to Jesus.”
To encourage people like this, and to reach the lost, FEBC-Japan is producing an outreach package that includes a CD of their best broadcasts and a Bible. These outreach packages will be given to non-believers and seekers, as well as churches, to direct people to FEBC broadcasts. Church members can also share them with non-believing family and friends. Providing funds for outreach packages that point people to Christ helps FEBC share the Good News, so please pray resources will become available for this vital ministry in Japan!
Listener Discipleship Project in the Middle East
Feba, FEBC’s sister organization, has been broadcasting in the Middle East for many years. During this time, they have had phenomenal success reaching people with the Good News.
In response to listeners eager to grow in their faith, Feba recently started a new program called “Reality Church¸” where listeners learn how to worship in the privacy of their homes. This is especially important in a country where Christian churches do not exist and people are persecuted for abandoning the traditional faith.
Through programs like “Reality Church,” the Christian Church is emerging in this area of the world, albeit underground, and it’s our prayer that this new program will not only disciple believers, but also help the Church grow and become a beacon to a region in need of hope.
Look for these gifts and more in the 2009/2010 FEBC Gift Catalog mailing in September!
