The radio is my friend

Friday July 24th, 2009

About 20 years ago, Mrs. Suyra* (81) accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior. Since then, her husband and children have ignored her, because they don't believe in Jesus. Prior to her conversion, Mrs. Surya followed the traditional beliefs practiced in Indonesia.

Even though her struggle has been difficult, she remains committed to her faith. She solely trusts Jesus and surrenders herself to Him. To this day, she is still faithful in serving the Lord, and she continues to pray that her family will one day accept Him as their Savior.

Ever since she first tuned into FEBC-Indonesia's radio station, she has listened to it night and day. She is comforted and strengthened by the programs.

Due to her old age and a recent flood in her house, she called FEBC's Heartline Counseling Clinic (HCC) and asked for support and prayer. On March 18, 2009, the HCC team visited her and brought her food and supplies. She was touched by their concern and welcomed them into her home.

Mrs. Surya sleeps on a broken bed in her living room. The only other thing she owns is a radio, which is tuned to FEBC's 100.6 FM station the entire day. "The radio is my friend," she told us, "and FEBC's programs keep me from being lonely."
