The Power of Stewardship
The parable in Matthew 25 about the wise and foolish servants entrusted with a sum of money is a good example of stewardship.
One invested wisely and earned a profit, while the other buried the money to avoid losing it. He failed to understand that by not investing, he was actually losing money for his master.
Just like the two servants in the Bible, God expects us to be responsible caretakers of all He has given us. And this includes how our resources are distributed after we die.
Yes, God expects us to wisely pass our assets on to the care of others! This is why… from a biblical perspective… a will is so important.
Ask God for wisdom as you prepare your will, seek good legal advice, make the necessary decisions, and arrange for a professional to prepare your documents.
It's also appropriate to have a brief talk with your heirs about future assets they may receive from you, as it may help them be better stewards for the Lord.
