New Discipleship Program Praised in Yemen
"WE PRAISE GOD AND THANK YOU for your quality programs, especially the Church in the House program. We pray more people will listen."
Yemeni listeners are reacting favorably to a new broadcast that began on December 26, 2008, in response to the growing number of believers in Yemen.
Since this Middle-Eastern country of 23 million is dominated by Muslims, there are no churches for people to attend to grow in their faith and fellowship with other believers.
Last November, staff from Feba (FEBC’s sister organization) worked alongside producers born in Egypt, Syria and Lebanon to create 36 programs that teach the biblical outline for church.
It is hoped that listeners will be encouraged to form churches in their own homes after listening to these broadcasts.
Feba has been broadcasting in the Middle East since 1972. Since their main audience has long been the people of Yemen, it was agreed in 2003 that there should be programs specifically geared towards them; in 2004 Feba began broadcasting in a Yemeni dialect, which received amazing response.
Yemenis couldn’t believe that their fellow countrymen were talking about Christ in their local dialect.
At first they broadcast an hour every evening, but have since increased to 2 hours.
